5 foods to combat the cold
So, so that you don't end up overflowing from the sides, I took on the task of researching the best foods to combat the cold.
And the first wave of cold cold arrives at us. And of course, the first thing we want to do is have a coffee, chocolate or any warm drink and of course, accompany it with a cake, cookie, dessert, etc. I personally don’t think you have to stop doing this 😉 But maybe not EVERY TIME you feel cold this season. So, so that you don’t end up overflowing from the sides, I took on the task of researching the best foods to combat the cold.
- Soups and broths. Let’s start with the most obvious one. But let’s get to what’s important. They help you stay warm, yes, but also their base, which is only water, is very good for helping against colds and keeping you hydrated, which, in the absence of heat, is still something important.
- Hot drinks. For the same reason as the last point, be sure to drink a coffee, preferably black. Teas are also an excellent option. A tip here is that you try not to use sugar. In cold times, your body needs energy and one way to obtain it is by burning fat 😉
- Sauces and spices. Now something interesting. This had always been like a myth (at least in my head), but it works. Capsaicin (the active chemical that makes something “sting”), apart from generating burning, also raises body temperature. Don’t overdo it, so as not to damage your stomach, but a little sauce or spiciness will help you stay warm, proven.
- Onion, spinach and carrot. Which becomes a good vegetable broth. Onion is a very good antiseptic, spinach helps your body’s response to almost any external pathogen and carrot strengthens cellular immunity. Cook with these vegetables to give your body the defense it needs.
- Ginger. Ginger is great and goes from your food to your lemonade. It helps with inflammation and is also an expectorant for colds. But also, the moment your body digests it, it turns into pure heat. At this time of year when we all feel like burying ourselves in blankets and not going out until spring, we have to be aware of what we eat so as not to come out looking like a bear.
