Exercise… at the gym or at home?

Answer these questions and decide which is better, exercise at the gym or at home?

This is one of the questions that crosses our mind when we want to exercise, at least for a moment. How do you know which is the best option? Commit to paying tons of money to have the door open and a million machines available that who knows if we will ever use? Or risk the comfort of the familiar and instead of doing sit-ups, better watch TV from the floor? Ok, that was very extreme, but don’t worry, nothing like that should happen to you. Just like everything, it depends on several things, but don’t worry, let’s look at some situations that will surely help you make the best decision.

Reasons to go to a gym:

  • The instruments and machines are better. Unless you have already invested a lot to make your own, if your goal is to build muscle, the best thing is the gym, where there is the necessary equipment to train and achieve that goal.
  • If you are interested in meeting people. The gym is a great place to meet people, both romantically speaking and not. If you are an extrovert and like to be with a lot of people, go to a gym.
  • This point is very important. How close is the gym you would like (and can you afford) to go to? If the place happens to happen to you at some point in your day and it doesn’t deviate you much from your routine, it starts to sound like the gym is the best option.
  • Being at home means being not only in your comfort zone. But in the place where you also have the freedom to distract yourself. A gym, on the other hand, is a place that only fulfills the function of exercising, this may help you focus on precisely exercising.

Reasons to exercise at home:

  • If you are exercising because you want to go on a trip soon, it is best to stay and exercise at home since there is a bigger expense coming up. Another thing is that it is proven that we feel inclined to buy the super Premium membership and… well, use it twice a month or something like that, so you will be spending a lot of money if you don’t know how to measure yourself.
  • Gym distractions, just like when we saw those at home, can be many and depend on you. Maybe you don’t like feeling watched. Or you’re overwhelmed by not knowing how to use certain machines or the generally lousy music they choose. If you go this way, better stay home.
  • Hygiene? Ok, look, gyms are usually clean (if they are good) and you have nothing to worry about. But I understand, sometimes it can just be an idea based on what we see. And if it is very strong, don’t even bother going to the gym and better stay and exercise at home 🙂
  • You don’t like to socialize. Maybe you don’t have any problem with these last 3 points, but, if you don’t like talking to people, I would hardly recommend the gym. It’s not every day someone is going to talk to you, either. But it is much more likely and if you don’t like being around people, it is best to exercise at home. So basically we can say that it depends a lot on your personality and goals. Remember to think about: What is your goal? Do you want to build muscle or just lose weight/maintain your figure? Do you like being around people or not? Whatever your decision, we recommend that you make a schedule and keep track of how you are going to reach your goal. This helps keep us focused at home or in the gym 🙂
