Habits that hurt your stomach
These habits may be damaging your stomach.
A topic I’ve wanted to write about for a while: things that hurt your stomach. There are certain things we do that when done poorly or excessively do us more harm than good. These are some of the things I see most in my family and friends and I want to share them so you can avoid difficult situations 🙂
- Stress . When we feel a lot of stress, blood rushes to our vital organs to help us fight or flee. The digestive response is not necessary so it is partially closed. Suffering from long-term stress means a lack of blood supply to our digestive tract and also a lack of gastric secretions, which leads to poor intestinal health. To combat the effects of stress, try giving yourself about 5 minutes a day to do some deep breathing.
- Alcohol kills the good bacteria in our intestine, so it changes the ecosystem of our digestive tract, and increases acidity. Additionally, it increases intestinal permeability, which means it causes a lot of inflammation. Intestinal permeability also means less absorption of nutrients, thus causing a lack of vital nourishment to your body’s cells.
- **Antibiotics and medications We are often prescribed antibiotics for common illnesses such as earaches and even viruses without knowing the repercussions. Antibiotics kill good and bad bacteria, as do most pharmaceutical medications. If you take medications daily, or antibiotics more than once a year, you will need to replenish the good bacteria through fermented foods and probiotic supplements. However, it is very necessary that, if they are prescribed to you, you take them, your health comes first. The solution to this is: try to find a GOOD primary care doctor.
- **A diet without many fermented foods Where do we get our good bacteria? From fermented foods. We have to eat them to supply our body with good bacteria. If our diet does not contain yogurt, kefir, kombucha, sauerkraut or miso, we most likely need We will increase our consumption to make sure we are getting what we need.
- **Obsession with cleanliness Do you carry hand sanitizer in your bag or an antibacterial in every sink in the house? Well, overusing these might not actually be good. Over-disinfection causes a lack of exposure to the microbes that help build immunity. So you know. We must be aware of our actions.
