4 reasons why you don’t lose weight with a vegan diet Copy Cwp April 9, 2018 No Comments Lately, many of my patients have asked me about this trend that is growing, but few know how to actually handle it. There are various reasons why people decide to adopt a vegan diet. Some of these people claim that they do it because of the awareness generated from animal abuse. Others because they think it is healthier. A few others because foods of animal origin make them uncomfortable and a few more because they believe that this way they will lose weight more easily. The last ones are the ones that should be taken care of the most. If you fall into this group and you don’t see results, these 4 points will interest you: • You don’t eat enough protein: protein is important to carry out processes that burn fat and make you lose weight. If you want to get them, increase your intake of beans, quinoa and nuts • You eat too much: a big mistake is thinking that you can eat unlimited quantities because they are healthy foods. Remember that the amount of calories is what matters most. And you may be underestimating the content of some products • You don’t eat as many times as you should: with all the attention you pay to your food. You may be eating throughout the day. Some recent studies claim that eating five times a day causes insulin to store the sugar in your blood as fat • You overindulge without realizing it: like the previous point, many of the foods you prefer to eat as a snack are unhealthy. Some are processed, some sugary, some are fried, and some are full of salt. Plus, since you also think that calories are extremely low, you give yourself the luxury of pampering yourself more often. Everyone I have recommended my patients to continue with a balanced diet that contains all the food groups. Still others, such as those who show discomfort with animal products, have reduced their intake and compensated with other foods. But always based on an adjustment to their diet that keeps them with all the food groups present. You could also read how mushrooms help you lose weight.
