We are almost at the end of the Challenge of the Week with Cambridge Weight Plan and I know that you are having a hard time abstaining from eating sugars. But you have to be strong friend! You have to resist temptations… And to help you achieve this, today I will take advantage of this challenge and that you are detoxifying from sugar so that you can stop eating it completely! Many of us, to avoid calories and enjoy our sweet coffee or other foods, turn to sweeteners (or also called sugar substitutes) as an alternative. But do you know what you are giving to your body? I’ll give you the pros and cons of these artificial sweeteners so you can decide if they’re really worth it. Pros • They sweeten with fewer or zero calories: some of these products are treated as “diet” due to their low calories. As they are much sweeter, the amount of this product used is much less than normal sugar. They are usually dealt with as part of a plan to lose or control weight. • Does not cause cavities: since they do not contain sugar, they do not cause cavities either. That easy. A group of Finnish researchers even discovered that the xylitol contained in sweeteners reduces cavities and stops the growth of bacteria that produce plaque. • They do not affect blood sugar levels and inhibit active insulin for diabetics: as it does not alter these levels, it can be an option for diabetics. Cons • Diseases: Some studies claim that these alternatives cause cancer, depression and bladder problems. • Side effects: long-term consumption can cause changes in vision and mood, seizures, headache and bdominal, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, reduced sperm production and vomiting. If you ask me about my position on them, they have some properties that can make your diet a more pleasant experience. However, they are the last option that I recommend to maintain the tastes of my patients. Learn here the 8 tips to give up sugar.
