Heavy food Whether you are on a diet or not, these tips can be helpful for any event where the food offer is large. Typical Mexican food is of great value for Mexico, since a mixture of flavors and ingredients are involved, fusing pre-Hispanic techniques with European cuisine, giving rise to a unique cuisine. In fact, on November 16, 2010, Mexican gastronomy was recognized as Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The dishes that are usually prepared for Mexican dinners tend to be “heavy.” Let us remember that at night, the body prepares to sleep and its functions slow down; Digestion slows down and when you receive highly processed foods, more alcohol, snacks and sugary drinks, indigestion will be more than present. Tips To avoid indigestion and take care of our diet, let’s follow these tips: Moderate your alcohol consumption: alcoholic beverages lack nutritional value. Calories from alcohol tend to be stored as fat. And if cocktails are prepared with sugary drinks, the caloric damage is greater. To enjoy these drinks, you can drink a glass of water for each alcoholic drink you drink. Remember not to exceed the recommended dose: 2 servings of alcohol for women and 3 pairs to men. Be light during the day: eat breakfast and eat something light. Consume few carbohydrates throughout the day since at night you will consume several servings. Have a snack: before going to your event, eat some cucumbers, carrots, jicamas or a small salad. With this action you will avoid overeating. Use napkins to reduce calories: before eating fried foods, absorb excess fat with some napkins. You will avoid eating unnecessary fat and save calories. Fresh waters: If they are very sugary, reduce them with plain water. Fill half of your glass with plain water and the other half with flavored water. Broths: if you notice that there is fat floating on the surface of your broth (pozole or pancita), remove it with your spoon or napkin and discard it. Choose lean meat and in the case of hominy eat half a cup, this is the recommended portion. Taste everything without guilt: the variety of foods will be very great, what you can do is share the dishes with your friends or family. For example: if there are 4 people, divide the snacks such as pambazos, sopes, tlacoyos, tostadas, etc. into 4 equal parts. They will taste the foods offered in small portions without overdoing it. Bring your digestive infusion: prepare an infusion of lemon grass, ginger or red tea in advance and take it in a bottle. You can use this infusion as a drink to help you digest food. Choose wisely: the stomach has a capacity of approximately 2 liters. Don’t overeat, eat and drink in moderation. The next day: cleanse your body with a green juice and eat lightly for the rest of the day to compensate for the excess from the previous day. Enjoy both the food and the company of your family and friends. These types of meetings unite the ties of friendship and are always enjoyable. It provides pleasant company and good coexistence. Long live Mexico!
