How being overweight causes strokes
Children who develop obesity in adolescence are more likely to suffer strokes, a study has revealed.

Stroke Risk When researchers analyzed the results, they found that men who had excessive weight gain between childhood and age 20 had a higher risk of strokes. The results showed that: • For every 2-point increase in BMI, there was a 20 percent increase in the likelihood of stroke. • Men who were normal weight at age 8 and overweight at age 20 had an 80 percent increased risk. • Those who were overweight at both stages of their lives were 70 percent more likely to suffer strokes.
