1. Follow a low carbohydrate diet

*A diet rich in vegetables, legumes, fruits, fish and monounsaturated fats has been linked to a 48% reduction in the risk of developing Alzheimer’s.

2. Have coffee

Some studies have shown that people who drink 3 to 5 cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s by 65%.

3. Have a glass of red wine

Good news! Polyphenol, a compound in red wine, may reduce plaque formations in the brain linked to memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease.

4. Eat fatty acids

*Omega-3 fatty acids found in salmon, anchovies, walnuts and other foods have been associated with a lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

5. Don’t smoke

People who smoke heavily during middle age have a 157% increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s. Quitting smoking may lead to fewer risk factors for dementia overall.

6. Be active

Moderate aerobic exercise, such as walking, can strengthen connections between brain circuits associated with cognitive abilities. Including planning, prioritizing, multitasking and strategizing.

7. Live without stress

*Stressful life experience may be related to the onset and severity of the disease. On the other hand, anti-stress activities such as yoga and meditation can improve cognitive function.
