Subsistence allowance? Find out which one is the best
Summer diets are here again! Every year diets appear that promise quick and effective weight loss... but do they really work?
Summer diets are here again! …But do they work? Every year, especially in summer, more and more diets begin to appear that promise quick and effective weight loss.** What are the trends this year? And do they really work?
*1. Cleans and detoxifies
We have a natural detoxification system. Doing a cleanse can put excessive pressure on this detoxification system, causing more health problems. There are those who recommend detoxifications with natural herbs, but remember that excesses are bad and so are bad combinations of ingredients.
*2. Gluten-free diet
The gluten-free diet is sometimes promoted as a way to lose weight, or as a “healthier” diet for the general population. A gluten-free diet is appropriate for people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, but is not necessary otherwise. Some gluten-free foods contain more calories than their full-gluten counterparts.** It’s not a bad idea to stay away from refined carbohydrates, but it’s not healthy to avoid high-fiber carbohydrates that contain gluten.
*3. Dried fruit “milk”
Drinks made from dried fruits (almond, cashew, coconut, hazelnut…) are very popular these days. But keep in mind that most of these substitutes actually have a higher sugar content than regular milk. Unless you use sugar-free products, it is better to drink cow’s milk or goat’s milk. If you are lactose intolerant, always check the sugar content. Forget about detoxing, gluten-free, lactose-free, lemon water, the Paleo diet, or clean eating. Start an eating plan designed especially for you and exercise regularly for a happier, healthier life.
