Tips to stay hydrated
In addition to drinking plenty of water a day, we can also stay hydrated through our diet and other tips.
Summer has finally arrived and it is hotter than ever, which is why now more than before, it is necessary to stay hydrated. Physical or virtual reminders Whether you keep a reminder in a physical space, or set alarms on your cell phone, you can even use applications that remind you how long it’s been since you hydrated, all of this will contribute to the cause. It is important that you do not wait until you feel thirsty, or that your lips, mouth or throat are dry before drinking liquids. All of these are signs of dehydration; on the other hand, try to drink fluids from time to time. Observe your waste When we wake up, it is normal for urine to have a dark color. Apart from this, throughout the day we must observe if the color varies. It is said that when the color changes to transparent, it is when the kidneys have been completely cleansed, and you have ingested the necessary amount to be hydrated. On the other hand, when you have problems evacuating you should double your water intake, remember that also being well hydrated makes it easier to purify ourselves, since the stools ‘soften’ and therefore are easier to evacuate. Always have a bottle/thermos of water on hand. There is no better physical reminder than carrying a thermos or bottle of water to know how much we have drunk during the day, or how much we still have to drink. Do it for a few days until you make it a habit. Eat more fruits and vegetables In addition to drinking a lot of water a day, we can also stay hydrated through our diet. There are many fruits and vegetables that are made up of water, as well as vitamins and minerals. Some that we recommend for summer: watermelon, cucumber, jicama, melon, apple, a chard, lettuce and tomato. Remember these recommendations and to avoid dehydration where you are losing more fluids than you are consuming, recover from the loss by increasing your consumption of water and fruits or vegetables to help you recover.
